On 18 January 2005 the Managers published on the Association’s website
details of the fines that could be levied by the Turkish Port Authorities for
vessels polluting waters in Turkish ports.
The Association’s Turkish correspondents have informed the Managers that
Turkish Criminal Code No. 765 under which fines were previously calculated has
been repealed. On 1 June 2005 a new Turkish Criminal Code, No. 5237, came into
force with a new calculation that has resulted in the fines that can be levied
being reduced.
The new fixed tariff which came into effect on 1 June 2005, is as follows:-
