Underwriting Support Technician 

Department: Underwriting
Reports to: Senior Underwriting Assistant Manager 

Overall Role Purpose:

To provide support to Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants with the processing of documentation, reports and general day to day support as set out in the Underwriting Policy, procedures, and the Association’s Business Plan.

Person specification;

· School Leaver

· Strong A levels

· Good communication skills

· Good MS Computer skills

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting:

  • Ensuring entries / enquiries / declines and initial fleet set up are added to the computer within the time frames set out in the Underwriting service standards.
  • Ensuring NTUs are recorded in a timely matter.
  • Ensuring monthly reports are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Ensuring filing for the UWs is completed in a timely manner and renamed as appropriate.
  • Assist with processing charterer’s entries and basic entries.
  • Processing any documentation required in an efficient and timely manner.
  • The update, enhancement and control of the Club’s ‘Know Your Client’ requirements, including assisting underwriters perform enquiries of Members to meet those requirements.
  • Minutes of team meetings.
  • Adhering strictly to current underwriting guidelines and procedures.

Renewals:

  • To assist the Underwriter in the processing of renewals for existing allocated members by:
  • Collating renewal statistics.
  • Ensuring the efficient and timely production of all renewal documentation relating to the fleet’s entry with the Association.
  • Liaising with the credit control department in order to check the up to date debt position as part of the renewal assessment process.

General administration:

  • To ensure efficient and timely production of documentation relating to fleets entered in the Association.
  • Preparing ad hoc analysis and reports as directed.
  • Maintaining orderly system files in accordance with the Underwriting Department service standards.
  • Assist in creating new filing procedures.

Marketing:

  • To work with the Underwriter in the development of new business as directed and to assist with business development and promote the interests of the Association within the underwriters designated geographical areas of responsibility by
  • Meeting Members and Brokers as required and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and service providers to enhance service delivery.

Service:

  • To provide the highest quality service to Members in line with the Association’s service standards. To work with all other offices and departments in line with the Association’s policies and procedures to ensure the Association’s goals are met.
  • To perform any other duties as may be requested in connection with any of the business of the Club.
