The bunker quality data for January – June 2023 is available on Neptune.

HFO bunker quality remains dubious in many major bunkering ports across the world. HFO samples from ARA area fail on viscosity and on density in up to 52.9% cases. HFO bunkers delivered in Miami, Houston and New York fail on technical parameters in 22.1%, 16.9% and 13.3% respectively.

VLSFO delivered in Hong Kong has been failing to meet ISO 8217 requirements on viscosity, on TSP and on CCAI in up to 1.4% of samples. Further 2.8% samples from Hong Kong failed on sulphur content limit. In that respect RME 180 category has been the most problematic.

A biggest global ULSFO supply port is Rotterdam. Watch out for the sulphur content and pour point when taking ULSFO bunkers in Rotterdam as these two parameters have been most frequently off specification during last 6 months in this port.

MGO supplies in 10 biggest ports have been consistently on spec on the sulphur content, although technical parameters such as viscosity, flash point and in particular pour point and FAME can cause quality compliance issues.
