Adrian is a former Merchant Navy Officer with 10 years’ experience predominantly for Maersk on their gas/product tanker and container fleets as well as an extensive period offshore on AHTSV's Subsequently obtaining a BSc(Hons) in Maritime and Intermodal Transport and LLM in Maritime Law. He has worked for two P&I clubs for twenty years, handling P&I, FD&D and marine claims.
He joined the Club in July 2020 and is the Deputy Head of Claims for the European Team and is Mentor to club students undertaking the IG PIQ. He represents West on several committees with the UK Chamber of Shipping as well as a Trustee for the Merchant Navy Welfare Board.
Erin joined the Club in 2014 from a London shipping law firm where she trained and practised for four years. She became Assistant Corporate Director in 2023. She studied law and politics at the University of California before obtaining her LLB at the College of Law in London. Erin also holds a Master of Laws in International Law from The University of Notre Dame.
She has handled claims for both Owned and Chartered LNG Members and sits on the International Group’s LNG COU Working Group.
Paul is a qualified solicitor and worked for a leading maritime law firm for nearly three years. He subsequently worked at two other P&I Clubs for sixteen years (including five years in Greece) handling both P&I and FD&D cases and in Defence Management.
He joined the Club in November 2011 and as the Head of claims for the European team he is responsible for Members from Europe, India and Russia. Paul represents WoE at the IG Claims Co-operation Sub-committee and has participated in the number of BIMCO Documentary Committee working groups including the Boxtime and NYPE 2016 C/Ps.
Ian joined the Club in 2005 and after leading a claims team in London moved to Greece in 2011 where he heads the Piraeus office. He is a practising English solicitor and admitted to the Piraeus Bar. Prior to joining the Club he worked at other IG P&I Clubs and as a lawyer in private practice.
He is responsible for managing P&I and FD&D claims for Members based in Greece, Cyprus and the Middle East. Ian regularly speaks at conferences and is actively involved in the marketing of the Club.
Spyridoula Bompolaki
Spyridoula Bompolaki is a qualified Greek lawyer and holds an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. She joined West P&I in 2021 having worked in the Shipping Litigation team of two international law firms and in the legal department of a Greek ship management company. She handles both P&I and FD&D matters as part of the West (Hellas) claims team. Spyridoula speaks fluent Greek and English and conversational French.
Julien is Head of Claims in West’s Singapore Office. He studied law in France and England and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in a London shipping law firm. Julien was based in West of England’s Hong Kong Office for 5 years, before moving to Singapore when the Club launched its office there. Prior to joining the Club, Julien worked for another IG Club in London for 7 years.
Enam is the Head of Claims for the Eastern Team and is responsible for P&I, FD&D and Offshore Members in the Middle East, Indian sub-continent, Africa and Europe. He qualified in 2005 as a Solicitor and has worked in private practice with an international law firm in Commercial Litigation and International Trade.
Prior to joining West P&I, Enam also worked for another IG Club for 10 years where he headed up the claims team for Europe and represented the Club on the International Group’s Claims Cooperation Subcommittee. His expertise is in major casualty management and he has handled some of the world’s largest major casualties, involving most complex and technically demanding wreck removal operations. Enam spearheaded the response to the MSC Chitra, MV Rena, MSC Flaminia, Golden Miller and Thorco Cloud. Since joining West P&I Enam has been involved in many complex Offshore disputes in the UAE. Enam regularly speaks at shipping industry events across the world. Enam also represents West on the International Group’s Production Offshore Specialist Craft sub-committee.
Tim Davies spent 6 years at sea as a deck officer serving on general cargo, container, tanker, bulk carrier and refrigerated vessels. He then studied law and economics at the University of Wales. After graduating Tim worked for over 20 years in private practice handling charterparty, MoA and contractual disputes, and arbitration cases from initial advices through to oral hearings. Tim also dealt with admiralty matters worldwide including groundings, fire, collision, salvage and total loss cases. He joined the Greek Office of West of England in 2008 and transferred to London in 2018 where he handles both FDD and P&I claims.
Trudy qualified as a Maltese lawyer in 2006, following which she obtained an LLM in shipping in Southampton and requalified as an English solicitor. In 2007, Trudy joined an IG P&I Club, where she handled a variety of P&I cases including cargo claims, collisions, wreck removals and personal injuries. Trudy then moved to a shipping law firm where she worked for 10 years, specialising in insurance and charterparty disputes, including cargo indemnities, off-hire, speed and performance disputes, damage to hull and ship arrests. Trudy joined the West of England in 2021, as part of the Eastern team. She looks after Members in the Middle East and handles a variety of FDD and P&I claims.
Elli Gavrielides, an English qualified barrister, joined the Club in December 1988 as a claims handler, dealing with both P&I and FD&D claims. She became an associate in 1992 and is now a senior claims manager.
Elli has extensive experience in handling collisions, dock / crane contact damages, pollution, ship/cargo fires, General Average and other large marine casualties, as well as cargo claims, on which she is now concentrating, having substantially reduced her FD&D work. She also reviews and advises on Terminal, Port, Towage contracts and Conditions of Use for LNG vessels.
Fionna joined the Club in May 2023. Before joining West she was a partner for 12 years at a leading maritime law firm where she advised and represented owners, charterers and other interests both on disputes under a broad range of shipping contracts, including in relation to the carriage of LNG.
Simon Hodgkinson
Global Head of Loss Prevention
Capt. Simon Hodgkinson is the Head of Loss Prevention at West P&I ensuring the members are supported in all aspects of their operations. This ranges from the publication of safety-related materials, individual advice on cargoes and trading conditions as well as safety management and other audits. Simon was at sea for 25 years rising up through the ranks, with the final 10 years as Master on Offshore vessels in the Oil and Gas sector. He then moved ashore and successfully ran the Operations Department for an offshore company in the Middle East for the nine years before moving to West.
