Malacca and Singapore Straits – Safe Passage Guide

Club correspondents Spica Services (S) Pte Ltd., Singapore have advised the Managers of a recent publication designed to assist deck officers when planning a passage through and navigating within the Malacca and Singapore Straits.

The booklet Safe Passage – The Straits of Malacca and Singapore contains advice on collision avoidance, routing measures, mandatory reporting, anchoring, local traffic conditions and visibility.

The booklet has been published by the Cooperative Mechanism on Safety of Navigation and Environment Protection in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. The Cooperative Mechanism was established in 2007 and provides a framework where the states of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia together with other shipping industry bodies can exchange ideas to help maintain and enhance the safety of navigation and environmental protection in the Malacca and Singapore Straits.
