Abidjan - disposal of waste, waste oil and sludge before sailing

Budd P&I have informed the Club that the “awareness period” for Port Authority decree no. 99-318 will expire on 31 December 2022.

The consequence of this is that from 01 January 2023 vessels will be required to dispose of all waste, waste oil and sludge onboard prior to departure. Costs for such disposal will be for vessel’s account.

Failure to comply with the requirement will entail sanctions and possible exclusion from the port’s daily berth allocation meeting. Detailed particulars regarding enforcement and the full range of sanctions have not yet been circulated by the port authorities. The situation is being monitored by Budd.
