New hatch cover video series

West of England P&I has launched a new video series on hatch covers, giving a practical overview of what role they play in P&I world, how they are surveyed, and which defects and repairs most often lead to concern. The series is structured across three videos covering hatch cover fundamentals, survey procedure, and defects and repairs.

The first video has now been published. It looks at hatch covers from the P&I Club perspective, explaining their basic construction and their part in preventing cargo claims due to water ingress into cargo holds.

Further releases in the series will look more closely at hatch cover survey procedure, along with the defects, poor repairs and maintenance failings that can turn into costly problems. Keep an eye on further releases, which will build up the wider picture step by step.
