Following news that Myanmar’s military has seized power from Aung San Suu Kyi and her governing party, the National League for Democracy, we are informed that Yangon and other ports currently remain open with all services operational.

The country’s main airport at Yangon has however been temporarily closed after a one-year state of emergency was declared by the military on Monday, 1 February 2021.

There are reports that communication lines (telephone / internet) are subject to intermittent interruption.

Any Members that require assistance in Myanmar should contact local correspondents as normal. Please however ensure that the relevant Claims Team at the Club is also informed / in copy of emails to ensure that communications run as efficiently as possible.
