Neptune - Bunker Info tab updates
Importance of bunker fuel quality cannot be overemphasised. Bunker of substandard quality may lead to technical issues with far-reaching consequences such as statutory non-compliance and fines or commercial frictions and time-consuming disputes.
Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) – a market leader in marine fuel testing, data and intelligence – has recently published a number of Bunker Alerts highlighting adverse quality trends in marine fuels at various major bunkering ports worldwide. All VPS Bunker Alerts are available under the bunker quality info tab on the West’s information portal Neptune.
This section on Neptune, which also features s the latest fuel quality stats provided by VPS, has been updated with most recent figures. An unusually high proportion of bunker stemmed at major global ports over the past six months has failed to meet the specification on technical parameters and on statutory Sulphur content.
For example, VLSFO delivered in one European port failed on Sulphur content in 18.9% of the tested cases. Similarly, the pour point of ULSFO supplied in another European port was off-spec in up to 19.6% of the samples.
