No. 5 2011/2012 - New Series of Safety Posters

March 2011

Dear Sirs,

NEW SERIES OF SAFETY POSTERS

In order to raise awareness of some of the common causes of shipboard accidents, the Loss Prevention department has produced a new series of safety posters entitled “Think!”.

The posters use cartoons to highlight good practice and emphasise the potential consequences of not doing so. The safety message is communicated in eleven principal maritime languages.

The first four posters in the series cover the following topics:

West of England - Be Seen

The need to wear
high visibility safety
clothing while working

West of England - Guard That Machine

The importance of ensuring
that exposed shafts
are fitted with guards

West of England - Clean It Up

Cleaning up spills at
the earliest opportunity to
prevent slips, trips and falls

West of England - Stand Clear of Bights

Avoiding bights of
rope during
mooring operations

Further posters will be added to the series in due course.

Members will be sent a complimentary set of all four posters. Further hard copies may be obtained by contacting the Loss Prevention Department or downloaded as PDF files from the Club’s website.

Yours faithfully
For:  West of England Insurance Services (Luxembourg) S.A.
