Philippines - Armed Insurgency in Mindanao

It has been reported that armed rebels from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) are disrupting activities in the port of Zamboanga in Mindanao, Philippines and in the surrounding area. Although nickel ore operations in Surigao in northern Mindanao are said to be unaffected, it is understood that this is not the case at Tawi Tawi near Zamboanga.

Members with vessels intending to load at Tawi Tawi or call at the port of Zamboanga are strongly advised to call correspondents Pandiman, Manila beforehand for details of the latest situation.
