Ukraine - Current Situation

Further to our update of 24 February 2014, our local correspondents, Dias Marine Consulting advise that, despite the tensions in Ukraine, ports continue to function as usual and the situation in the three largest ports, Odessa, Ilyichevsk and Yuzhny, is stable and kept under full control of the local authorities.

However, there are some concerns about the port of Kherson where there are political meetings on the streets, and it is recommended that foreign seamen refrain from coming ashore in this port, also in Nikolaev and Dneprobugskiy, Oktyabrskiy, “Nibulon” private grain terminal and Nikolaev river and Nikolayev sea ports.

Despite Russia’s presence in the Crimean ports, including Sevastopol, Kerch and Theodosia, Dias Marine advise that these ports are quiet, although the situation may change radically very quickly.
