Loss Prevention Seminar - Piraeus - 8 November 2012

West of England (Hellas) Ltd was pleased to host its annual Loss Prevention seminar at the Piraeus Marine Club on 8 November 2012.  The topic was “Bunker Problems – Minimising the Risks” and the seminar was attended by over 60 Members and brokers.

Presentations were given by Captain Simon Rapley from the Club’s Loss Prevention team based in London covering bunkering procedures, best practice, bunker management and common problems.  We are grateful to Dimitrios Giannakouros of Kalimbassieris Maritime for providing the technical aspects of the presentations, addressing ISO standards, sampling and analysis, common problems with engines attributable to bunkers and the role of the marine expert. Tim Davies from the Club’s Greek office rounded off the afternoon with his review of the legal and practical problems faced under charterparties and bunker supply contracts.
